In 1950 Ava Gardner starred with Spanish torero Mario Cabré the film "Pandora and the Flying Dutchman", filmed in Tossa de Mar. Many villagers participated in the shooting and keep a good memory of the beautiful actress, who had an affair with the torero in real life, when she apparently was engaged to Frank Sinatra, who also visited the village. From 1998 a bronze statue of the actress has been placed on a little square with panoramic views inside the Vila Vella, the fortified part in Tossa de Mar. She seems very attractive and looks at the sea horizon, where the Flying Dutchman is still sailing.

The Plaja Castle, a private neo-gothic style building, was built in 1941 by entrepreneur Narcís Plaja and executed in stone by architect Isidor Bosch. It lies at the northern end of the beach Platja de Lloret (in fact it is clearly visible from the seacoast boulevard), just above the cove of Sa Caleta, and you can visit its proximity through the coastal path that passes nearby. The castle has a series of crenellated towers visibles from the sea and the beach. It is also clearly visible its windows with ogival openings, typical of the Gothic. Over the years it has become a symbol o......

From the north side of Platja de Lloret beach, you can walk about 20 minutes to the upper town (called Lloret de Dalt) to visit the discrete remains of a Roman tomb dating from the second century AD. In fact this tomb, which unfortunately was demolished in 1967 with the urn containing the remains of the unknown person buried, and rebuilt with the same materials a year later, is located in an ancient necropolis in this place called Can Avellaners de Can Sala, where today nothing is preserved. The tower was discovered and excavated in 1891.
