Set on the beachfront in Tossa de Mar and at the foot of the old town, Hotel Cap d'Or offers rooms with free Wi-Fi and private bathrooms. It has an on-site restaurant and terrace.

Hotel Cap d'Or is in Tossa de Mar
Imagine a place where travelling through time, back to the past. Tossa de Mar is something like an outdoor museum. Its prehistoric remains from roman Turissa go through the medieval Tursa into modern Tossa. Once a meeting point for intellectuals (Marc Chagall, Picasso), now a very beloved touristic destination, Tossa de Mar is one of the most beautiful village in the Costa Brava.
Tossa de Mar is one of those typical coastal towns of the Empordà, where we find the pines growing and reaching sea, almost touching the water.
Tossa's economy, some centuries ago, was based on the cork and wine industry. However, the filming of 'Pandora' in 1950 (starring Ava Gardner), parallel to the beginning of the village as a tourist destination on the Costa Brava, turned this beautiful coastal location into one of the best known around the world. For this reason tourism has become the main economic engine of the town during last decades.
Tossa's origins are pre-Roman. Known as Turissa, it enjoys an exceptional geographic location, situated between Lloret de Mar (south) and Sant Feliu de Guixols (north). To get there you must take the road GI-682, which passes through the two mentioned locations. Both coming from Lloret and from Sant Feliu, the views from the road are fantastic. It is almost obligatory stop at one of the many panoramic viewpoints marked through the edge of the road to watch and take pictures of the views of the creeks that are visible from there. Through this way you can access beautiful and spectacular beaches such as Cala Giverola, Cala del Senyor Raimon, Cala Vallpresona, Cala Canyet, etc.
From Roman times Tossa still keeps the villa of Els Ametllers, located in av. of Pelegri, 3-5, near the Torre de Sant Magí (St. Magí Tower). Discovered by Dr. Ignasi Melee in 1914, it has its origin in the first century BC and was inhabited until the sixth century AD. It's really a great honor to Tossa to have one of the best towns in the former province of Tarraco, which has survived until today. In els Ametllers the owners cultivated grapes and exported wine to the rest of the Roman Empire. It is therefore a classic example of farming in the Mediterranean area dominated by the Romans.
Already in the center of town, you have to visit the walled enclosure, which is exactly the Vila Vella de Tossa. Listed as National Historic-Artistic Monument by the Spanish government, its walls now represent the only example of a fortified medieval town on the Catalan coast. It is composed of seven watchtowers (including, for example, d'en Joan, Codolar and Heures).
It is highly recommended to walk through the streets of this small walled area and get to the Faro de Tossa (Tossa Lighthouse), which overlooks a magnificent view of the rocky coastline south of village.
Tossa Lighthouse (1917), located on the highest part of the Vila Vella de Tossa has become the Lighthouse Interpretation Centre (Centro de Interpretación de Faros) of our coastline. This innovative equipment in the museum domain is a point of reference for all those interested in the world of maritime signals. It is an audiovisual center, adapted to visitors in several languages that teaches us the history and the different technologies used in the world of lighthouses and the lifestyle of their guardians, the lighthouse keepers. The space devoted to museum gives us the chance to see different parts of this maritime heritage.
Outside the Walls, bounded by the streets Portal and Estolt, you find the district of Sa Roqueta, a traditional place of fishermen formed in the first stage of Tossa urban expansion, back in the XVI century. Further, following the street Portal, is the commercial center of town.
The walk along the seafront of Tossa, from the walls to the beach of Mar Menuda is also a nice experience. This tour will allow you to enjoy the sea and the spectacular views of the Cape of Tossa and the fortified ancient villa previously described.
The Municipal Museum, housed in the Batlle Palace, bears testimony to the passage through Tossa of Marc Chagall, André Masson, Joaquim Sunyer and other painters captivated by this landscape.
Tossa boasts fine beaches such as Llorell and Morisca, and one of the most beautiful stretches on this coastline: the road to Sant Feliu de Guíxols (twenty-five kilometres of bend after bend) through the coves of Salions, Futadera, Giverola and Pola.

My husband and I just went to "get away" and it was WONderful! The hotel is small, nestled at the base of the old ruins, right on the beach. The season was almost closed, so things weren't crowded, making it even more enjoyable. The hostesses were delightful, spoke impeccable English, and were very helpful. The rooms are not grand, but nicely done, and we had a window looking out on the beach. That was awesome! Breakfast was typical European - with meats, cheeses, fruit and homemade yogurt. Yummo! We walked EVERYwhere, comfortably, and thoroughly enjoyed Tossa. Will be back! The only drawback was needing to find parking. Being that the hotel is right on the beach, there is no immediate parking accessible. However, we were very fortunate to find a place on the street, allowing us to venture through town and find all sorts of delightful things! :) |

The location was magnificent... The views incredible exactly as in the magazines and web ... the breakfast outside the terrace was scrumptious... I wish I had extra time to do a little scuba diving ...it would of been cold but interesting ...although a little cool and windy did manage to swim in the sea...visited nearby Figures and Girona for side trips... sea food is fresh ... some delicious places to eat and some not so good ... do your homework beforehand Went off season and had trouble finding places to eat... Their dinner hours are different then the rest of Spain, so work that into your schedule room was very nice but a little bit too small ... parking is free on the street but a ridiculous rate in nearby car park ...42 euro per night ouch |

This was sooooo special. We arrived after a hard bike ride from Barcelona and the owner was fabulous in helping us store our bikes in the little secure court-yard. The gorgeous bedroom over looked the umbrellas of the sea-side cafe below and the whisper of waves and mournful cry of sea-gulls were the only sounds in the morning. The fact that it is not just next to the castle walls but snuggled against the wall was also magic. Breakfast was the best buffet breakfast we'd had in Spain and we got to devour the goodies at the outdoor restaurant tables - whilst waiting for the beach to warm up. Perfect! Couldn't believe our luck :) Riding away the next morning :( |

The hotel is run by a mother and daughter. They were charming, extremely helpful and fluent in English, French, Spanish and probably more! The location was perfect and quiet too, being on a pedestrianised part of the street. Lovely breakfasts served outside overlooking the beach in the sunshine. Even better they served until 11am, so no rushing to get up and out early! The bed was changed every day and the room and bathroom were clean. It was a lovely place to stay with impeccable friendly service, and a fantastic sea view. We asked for the balcony room and got it, which was a real bonus. I would definately recommend Hotel Cap D'Or! The bed was comfy, but it was also rather squeaky! |

Das Hotel hat - meiner Meinung nach - die beste Lage in dem ganzen Ort, außerdem besitzt sehr viel Charme . Die Räumigkeiten sind nicht groß, dafür ist es überall sehr sauber. Erwähnen muss man unbedingt ein tolles Frühstück, eiwandfreies WLAN, Regenschirme und Strandmatten, die dem Gast zur Verfügung stehen. Ein sehr gastorientiertes, freundliches Familienbetrieb. Wir mussten ganz früh abreisen, uns wurde trotzdem um 6:00 Uhr ein Frühstück zubereitet ! La ubicación excelente, el trato Toda la noche, hemos escuchados un fuerte y obsesionante ruido de motor que nos impidio dormir (pensabamos que era motores de aere acondicionado). Al señalarlo al día siguiente, la directora del hotel nos explico que se les habían estropeado un congelador el día anterior y que un tecnico había instalado un compresor justo al lado/debajo de nuestra habitación mientras areglen el congelador. |

Das Fruehstueck ist hervorragend. Im Sommer draussen mit selbstgemachten Joghurt und selbstgebackenem Kuchen. Das Personal ist superfreundlich und das Hotel einfach toll mit nur 12 Zimmern. Ich kann Tossa vorallem in der Vor- und Nachsaison empfehlen. El tamaño de la habitación, un poco pequeña, sobre todo el lavabo. |

l'emplacement, le confort de la literie et de la salle de douche, avec douche de plein pieds très spacieuse. L'efficacité du personnel, le bon accueil de la Direction. La climatisation et la bonne insonorisation avec l'extérieur car, bien sûr en bord de mer, le soir, il y a du passage ! La difficulté à se garer pour décharger et charger les bagages. Il faut savoir que les parkings sont assez loin, mais c'était précisé sur votre site, alors ..... et, bien sûr, les chambres un peu petites, plutôt prévues pour un court séjour. |

Increibles vistas, primera linea de mar y relacion calidad precio correcto. Muy recomendable el menu que ofrecen por solo 15 euros!! La difficulté à se garer pour décharger et charger les bagages. Il faut savoir que les parkings sont assez loin, mais c'était précisé sur votre site, alors ..... et, bien sûr, les chambres un peu petites, plutôt prévues pour un court séjour. |
