Old Bridge Gualta

Price: free of charge

Gualta is a medieval village situated in the plain Empordà, in a highly recommended area for walking, biking and even horseback or with Segway. Little Daró river crosses it, that a little later joins Ter river. In the northern part of Gualta you find the medieval bridge, from sixteenth century, although it is believed that it is resting on the foundations of an earlier one, too low to withstand floods. This bridge of five arches, declared a national monument in 1987, has a length of 60 meters and a width of 2.20 meters and in medieval times it was the only way to cross goods and herds .You can still see on the pavement the marks of the horse cars that crossed it centuries ago!
