Torroella de Montgrí Castle

Address: Ronda de Pau Casals. Torroella de Montgrí
Price: free of charge

Visible from all the village of Torroella and a large extension in all Costa Brava, located right on the imaginary axis that divides the South Ampurdán from the North one, the castle is one of the most spectacular viewpoints of the region. It was built by King James II between 1294 and 1304, but never became the scene of any battle since the conflict he had with Ampúrias County was settled before the end. Today is the end of a good promenade over an hour up the mountain allowing stunning views. Free entrance.
