Monastery Sant Daniel, Girona

The Monastery of Sant Daniel is located in the valley of the same name, a beautiful natural environment near the center of Girona. For almost a thousand years hosts a community of Benedictine nuns, between 10 and 20, and a student residence. The original Romanesque monastery is from the eleventh century, and was founded by Ermessenda of Carcassonne, widow of Count Ramon Borrell. Normally it is not allowed to visit it, except for the days when the city celebrate "Temps de flors", those wonderful days when many historic buildings open their doors and are adorned with flowers.

Iberian settlement in Sant Julià de Ramis

The archaeological site of Castellum Fractum is a few kilometers north of Girona, on the little mountain of Sant Julia, 190 meters high. At his feet runs the river Ter an the ancient Roman Via Augusta route, now N-II. This largely explains the situation of this fortified Iberian settlement in the sixth century BC which was also occupied by the Romans until almost seventh century AD. Fabrica of Celra is an ancient modernist (Art Nouveau) factory built in 1902, in this village near Girona. It was originally create for Pagans Company, that made chemical products for animal skins. Today La Fàbrica is one of the most interesting examples of industrial Art Nouveau in Catalonia and host some facilities like the Local Public Library and a popular bar restaurant.

The sanctuary of Els Àngels

The Shrine of the Angels is located at 484 meters above sea level, on one of the highest mountains in the mountain ranges formed by the Gavarres. From this esplanade you obtain a wonderful view of the plain of Girona, the Baix Empordà region, the Medes Islands, the Pyrenees, the mountains of Montseny and the Guilleries. In the church (the s.
