Girona City Walls, Girona

One of the most popular walks in the city of Girona is through the ancient walls. The oldest ones date from first century B.C. and the most modern from eighteenth century. Along there are the various gates that were used to cross them: Portal de Sant Agustí, Portal d'en Renart, Portal d'en Cardonet, etc. and even several bastions (Santa Clara, Governador, Santa Creu, etc..). For years they have been under restoration and it is now possible to ride along them to enjoy the best views of Girona: from here you can see the great Devesa Park, the river Onyar, the Monastery of Sant Pere de Galligants and many other points of interest of this beautiful city, the main one in the Ampurdan region.

Iberian settlement in Sant Julià de Ramis

The archaeological site of Castellum Fractum is a few kilometers north of Girona, on the little mountain of Sant Julia, 190 meters high. At his feet runs the river Ter an the ancient Roman Via Augusta route, now N-II. This largely explains the situation of this fortified Iberian settlement in the sixth century BC which was also occupied by the Romans until almost seventh century AD. The site is well signposted, you can see carved old silos, part of the walls and the foundations of huts carved into the rock along the slope. Fabrica of Celra is an ancient modernist (Art Nouveau) factory built in 1902, in this village near Girona. It was originally create for Pagans Company, that made chemical products for animal skins. The sanctuary of Els Àngels

The Shrine of the Angels is located at 484 meters above sea level, on one of the highest mountains in the mountain ranges formed by the Gavarres. From this esplanade you obtain a wonderful view of the plain of Girona, the Baix Empordà region, the Medes Islands, the Pyrenees, the mountains of Montseny and the Guilleries. In the church (the s. XVIII) Gala and Dalí married secretly in 1958. The shrine offers a hosting service of rooms with views.
