Devesa Park, Girona | Costa Brava

Devesa Park in Girona is the largest one in Catalonia, and the real green lung of the city. It occupies 40 hectares and you'll find inside 2500 platanaceae trees, most planted in the mid-nineteenth century, a time when this area, situated among the rivers Ter, Onyar and Güell, was remodeled as a park. Of the 40 ha, 9 consist of avenues covered by the shade of these trees that have grown in height reaching in some cases 60 meters.

This is the preferred ride of Girona people, a landscape that is different in every season. Part of the park is composed specifically by the Devesa Gardens, occupied by plant species with a special scientific interest, so that it can be considered almost as botanical gardens. In this area we find also the green collar ducks in freedom.

Iberian settlement in Sant Julià de Ramis

The archaeological site of Castellum Fractum is a few kilometers north of Girona, on the little mountain of Sant Julia, 190 meters high. At his feet runs the river Ter an the ancient Roman Via Augusta route, now N-II. This largely explains the situation of this fortified Iberian settlement in the sixth century BC which was also occupied by the Romans until almost seventh century AD. The Factory

Fabrica of Celra is an ancient modernist (Art Nouveau) factory built in 1902, in this village near Girona. It was originally create for Pagans Company, that made chemical products for animal skins. Today La Fàbrica is one of the most interesting examples of industrial Art Nouveau in Catalonia and host some facilities like the Local Public Library and a popular bar restaurant.

The sanctuary of Els Àngels

The Shrine of the Angels is located at 484 meters above sea level, on one of the highest mountains in the mountain ranges formed by the Gavarres. From this esplanade you obtain a wonderful view of the plain of Girona, the Baix Empordà region, the Medes Islands, the Pyrenees, the mountains of Montseny and the Guilleries. In the church (the s.
