Every summer, since 1977, Begur hosts one of the most eclectic music festivals in the Costa Brava. In the Pati de les Escoles Velles (the courtyard of the old school of Begur, under the imposing castle and near the historical defence towers), during the months of July and August. Jazz, swing, flamenco, classical bel canto and havaneres artists, among others, perform here. A great opportunity to enjoy and learn in family of some unknown styles for many visitors, as flamenco or havaneres (the traditional song of migrants in this region to the island of Cuba, during eighteenth and nineteenth centuries).
