Walter Benjamin Route is a 9.5 miles signposted pedestrian path across the Pyrinees next to the sea, between the spanish village Portbou and the french one Banyuls. This was the last step of the german philosopher Walter Benjamin, who exiled from Germany for being jewish and who aimed to arrive to America, but who died in tragic circumstances in Portbou 26th September 1940.
