Querroig Castle is in Portbou, 670 meters above sea level, on the first mountain of the Pyrenees near the Mediterranean sea, separating Spain from France. We have the first references to this castle in the tenth century, when it was the northernmost tower defense of the Ampurias County. Today are only preserved sections of the ancient wall and the base of the tower, about six meters in diameter and height 3. The 360 degree views are excellent: Cap de Creus (especially Portbou beaches), the Canigó Mountain, the Alberes Mountains, the French Red Coast (Côte Vermeille)...
