Castellfollit de la Roca is one of the most picturesque villages on the Costa Brava and Catalonia. It is a small village of about 1,000 inhabitants and less than 1 km2 that is located on a basalt rock cliff 40 meters high, formed from volcanic eruptions in the past. In fact this environment is part of the Natural Park of the Volcanic Area of the Garrotxa. The scenic viewpoint of Josep Pla Square, next to the church of Sant Salvador (its tower excels in the profile of the village houses), is one of the best balconies of Catalonia. Under the village flow the rivers Fluvià and Turonell.
