Immaginate un luogo dove si possa andare indietro nel tempo. Tossa de Mar è come un museo all'aperto. Dagli scavi preistorici della Turissa romana, passando per la medievale Tursa fino alla moderna Tossa, punto d'intersezione dei turisti e degli intellettuali, questo bello villaggio si è sviluppato fino a essere uno dei più belli della Costa Brava.
Conosciuta in forma abbreviata come Tossa, Tossa de Mar è una di quei tipici villaggi costieri che troviamo lungo la Costa Brava e l'Ampurdán dove i pini raggiungono il livello del mare, quasi a toccare l'acqua.
L'economia di Tossa, secoli indietro, era basata sul sughero ed il vino. Tuttavia, il film "Pandora" (interpretato da Ava Gardner nel 1950), parallelo al l'inizio della sua conoscenza come destinazione turistica della Costa Brava, ha trasformato questo splendido villaggio sul lungomare in uno dei più noti in tutto il mondo. Per questo motivo il turismo è diventato il principale motore economico di Tossa de Mar.
Tossa gode di una posizione geografica eccezionale, situata tra Lloret de Mar (al sud) e Sant Feliu de Guixols (verso il nord). Per arrivarci è necessario prendere la strada GI-682, che passa attraverso le due località menzionate. Provenienti da Lloret o da Sant Feliu, le perspettive dalla via sono fantastiche. E 'quasi obbligatorio fermarsi in uno dei molti punti di vista panoramici segnati sul bordo della strada per fotografare le diverse spiagge e calette che sono visibile da lì. Attraverso questo modo possiamo accedere a spiagge così belle e spettacolare come Cala Giverola, Cala del Senyor Raimon, Cala Vallpresona, Cala Canyet, ecc.
Dall'epoca romana ci resta la villa di Els Ametllers, che si trova a l'av. di Pelegri, 3-5, vicino alla Torre de Sant Magi. Scoperta dal Dr. Ignasi Melee nel 1914, ha il suo origine nel I a.C. e fu abitata fino al VI d.C. È una delle migliore ville della ex provincia di Tarraco sopravvissuta fino ad oggi. Fu utilizzata per coltivare la vite e per esportare vino al resto de l'Impero. È 'quindi un classico esempio di agricoltura nell'area mediterranea dominata dai Romani.
Già nel centro della città non può lasciare di visitare le cinte murarie, propriamente la Vila Vella de Tossa. Elencata come Monumento Storico-Artistico Nazionale, le sue mura rappresentano oggi l'unico esempio di una città fortificata medievale sulla costa catalana. Si compone di sette torri di guardia (comprese quelle d'en Joan, Heures e Codolar).
Si consiglia vivamente di lasciarsi perdere dentro le strade di questa piccola area fortificata e arrivare fino al Faro di Tossa, che si affaccia su una magnifica vista della costa rocciosa.
Il Faro di Tossa (1917), situato sulla parte più alta della Vila Vella de Tossa è diventato il Centro di Interpretazione di Fari della nostra costa. Questa apparecchiatura innovativa nel dominio museistico è un punto di riferimento per tutti quelli interessati al mondo dei segnalamentti marittimi. Si tratta di un centro multimedia, adattato ai visitatori in diverse lingue, che ci insegna la storia e le diverse tecnologie utilizzate nel mondo dei fari e lo stile di vita dei loro guardiani. Lo spazio dedicato al museo stesso ci dà la possibilità di vedere le diverse parti di questo patrimonio marittimo.
Fuori le mura, delimitato dalle strade Portal ed Estolt, c'è il quartiere di Sa Roqueta, un'enclave tradizionale dei pescatori formato dopo la prima fase di espansione urbanistica di Tossa, già nel XVI secolo. Inoltre, seguendo la strada Portale, si trova il centro commerciale della città.
La passeggiata sul lungomare di Tossa, dalle mura alla spiaggia detta Mar Menuda è anche una bella esperienza. Questo giro vi permetterà di godere del mare e di una vista spettacolare del Capo di Tossa e di la Vila Vella murata.
Il Museo Civico, situato nel Palau del Batlle, testimonia il passaggio per Tossa di Marc Chagall, André Masson, Joaquim Sunyer e altri pittori stregati dal fascino di questo paesaggio.
Tossa offre belle spiagge, come Llorell e Morisca, e uno degli scenari più suggestivi della costa, il tratto Tossa-Sant Feliu de Guíxols, 25 km di tornanti per le cale di Salions, Futadera, Giverola e Pola.

Location, restaurant staff and breakfast. Our room was very noisy so we asked the staff to change the room, but they changed it for a noisier one! As we were staying for 5 nights, we asked to change the room again and a member of the staff joined us to the room to verify the noise (she said she didn't hear anything, when we were over the kitchen extractor and the balcony fence was trembling). It seemed that the more we complained about the room the worst service we had! The third day, after being given a room without noise, we arrived late at night and the room hadn't been cleaned!!!! The fourth day, we towels had spots like if they weren't clean enough,so they changed them. In summary, a very expensive hotel, with a careless staff, and a very poor customer service. We don't recommend it at all. |

Les instal·laciones, vam estar en una suite magnífica. Anàvem tres adults, i va ser molt agradable no molestar-nos, gràcies a l'espai de l'habitació. L'esmorzar, fantàstic, generós, amb un personal atent i agradable. La situació, tot i que aparentment està a prop del centre, és recomanable. L'amabilitat del seu personal, l'atenció per complaure'ns és d'agrair. El solarium, relaxant, amb un ambient familiar on es respecta el silenci de la resta. No vam trobar cap element que molest. |

pas grand chose...Je su je suis arrivé le 7 avril aprés un périple d'une journée et trés fatiguée, la chambre qui m'a été attribuée était remplie de fumée de tabac et d"une odeur infecte, j'étais épuisée et je me suis endormie quand même malgré le bruit, je me suis réveillée trés malade et mon séjour a été horrible, bruits toute la nuit, personnel à l'accueil non aimable, je voulais rentrer chez moi et changer billet d'avion etcs, internet ne fonctionnait pas!! j'ai du rester la bas jusqu'au 13 avril, c'est un endroit horrible que je déconseille, jamais je n'y retournerai pour tout l'or du monde, personnel de l'accueil méprisant et le mec le dernier jour ne voulait pas me donner ma valise qu'il gardait, j'ai failli rater mon car, avion, je conseille l'hotel Costa Brava sur Tossa.Comme je fais enquête/mystère je vais pas les louper ds mon rapport |

The shower was very good and temperature regulation was great (this is sometimes a weak point in many hotels). The view from our room was to an interior patio with trees, which was nice. The breakfast has a good selection and food was quite fresh. Several aspects were disappointing from the very start. The dinner buffet was overpriced for the quality of the food offered; a steak I had was chewy and so was the bread. The hotel garage (about 300 m away) did not have space so we had to keep the car in a public garage (20 EUR/day, not expensive but still double the hotel price). Room airco didn't work and we spent most of night overheated. Moreover, we asked for a baby cot at the time of booking, arrived at hotel at 19.00 and no cot was there - had to remind them. Overall, poor value for money for a hotel located in the center of the town of Tossa de Mar. Note: Booking.com advertises babysitting facilities in hotel; when we asked about this upon arrival, they didn't know about it. Next morning, they said that they can call a babysitter if needed... I find this somehow misleading advertising by Booking.com. |

Picture showed double bed next to twin bed. We got a double bed with a small cot. For older children families, better to get two rooms. This is not the hotel's fault. |

Friendly staff throughout. Sufficiently spacious and well appointed room and bathroom facilities. The dining room offered freshly cooked food as well as a hot and cold range of food for their buffet. This applied for both breakfast and evening meal. At 15 euros per head the full buffet was available for dinner as well as a choice of freshly and expertly cooked choices of several types of fish and meat. Not to be missed! The hotel was centrally placed in Tossa for both access to the beach and seafront and yet the countryside was easily available by car. There was a lack of lounge areas for a 4 star hotel.ie Nowhere to relax with a drink after a meal or returning from a day out, except for their attached cafetaria which was a bit grim inside as were the few tables outside on a narrow pavement. If they put a cafe terrace outside at the back above the kitchen the problem would be solved. They do have a fairly spacious roof top spa/jacuzzi area for guests only but this is not staffed and its surrounding fence prevents views of the town. Also the air-conditioning was rather noisy and needs upgrading to newer, quieter models. |

Good location just beside the seaside yet close to the city centre. The buffet supper (cost 15 Eur) is really worth paying: different kinds of meat, seafood, salads, desserts, and the chief who makes it all unforgettable. Can't but pay attention to professional and friendly staff, especially waitress. Also, the exterior of the hotel in fact different from those on the same street and surrounding ones: fresh and fancy, in comparison with others. Nothing to mention. We were to much satisfied by environment and the hotel to notice some negative issues. |

High quality hotel in a good location. Rooms were great and big balcony. Modern facilities and roof top terrace. The reception staff were nice but I found the restaurant and breakfast room staff bordering on aggressive. For example when I entered or left the restaurant they made no attempt to make me feel welcome. On one occasion when i paid for dinner there was no thank you or goodbye despite a tip. The chef was very nice and professional, I know this is a bit drawn out but the restaurant staff urgently need customer service training because this is a great hotel let down by a couple of waitresses who make you feel unwelcome. |

Location of hotel was very good. Close to main streets, shops & beach. The standard of the room was very high and well maintained. The room was on the back of the hotel which caught sun in the morning. Balcony was a little small but as a solo traveller not a big problem. Quality of coffee for breakfast was poor. |

Very convenient for beach, the old town and the bus station (we arrived by bus from Barcelona) Very clean and comfortable with an excellent buffet breakfast. Hot tub on the roof is a real treat. Terrace is overlooking the road and if you are on the first floor there is little privacy from passers by. |

Room was comfortable on the whole, nice bed, decent bathroom, fee wi fi. Breakfast choices limited and breakfast restricted to a two hour slot so we had to miss it completely on the day we left. We had a suite and as we were paying over 100 euros per night, would have expected the view to have been better and not overlooking rundown roof tops. Also very noisy. Dirty footprints on the floor of the suite when we arrived - cleaning issues. No tea or coffee making facilities in the suite, no paper or pen in the suite, no fresh fruit as promised when booking. |

The hotel was perfect for our needs; a comfy, clean, well located hotel as a base for our holiday. The rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean (including the bathrooms! The showers were fantastic too!). Breakfast was fantastic with a huge range of choice. All in all a very pleasant stay. Reception staff were not as friendly as the rest of the staff. |

Nice location as it's close to where most of the action is, in Tossa-de-mar. The rooms didn't have ac (only heater). It became somewhat suffocating in the night, and we had to leave the balcony door open. |
