The International Costa Brava Festival Fireworks in Blanes, is held in the framework of the local fiestas of Santa Anna at the beach, near the big rock ledge Sa Palomera, and during the month of July. It's actually a contest in which pyrotechnic technical enterprises from around the world show their creations in 20-minute sessions that often begin from 23:00 h. The public (up to 450,000 people over the weekend) view them from the beach or from the sea, in boats. Nearly 4 tons of explosives are detonated after the 4 or 6 days that last these performances.
